Prasses Village & Gorge, Potami Dam Lake, Patsos Gorge
We will start our tour from Prasses, a wonderful medieval village. We can see the interaction of
different cultures that passed through Crete, the Venetian mansions, the Ottoman farmsteads and
the Orthodox churches. The village has been built on the edge of a gorge and is surrounded by
lush greenery. This gorge is the departing point for many hiking excursions in summer.
Our next stop is the Potami Dam of Amari. It is an artificial lake where all the water from the
surrounding mountains is collected. The place attracts a lot of visitors, who can admire the new
created wetland, the lush landscape, the geomorphological features of the area and the dam construction
Afterwards we continue driving through some beautiful villages such as Meronas and Gerakari to
reach our final stop at Patsos Gorge. At its entrance there is a water infrastructure with constantly
running water next to the river.
Here there is also a traditional tavern “Drymos” for lunch. An exclusive zoological park will add
lots of interest since you can see there all the animals of a Cretan farm.
